Brazil thumped Ecuador to gain the third win in Group A. Brazil went on a 20-5 run in the third term to clear off for good. Lauryn Turibio (188-C-2008) scored 11 points and collected 14 rebounds to pace the winners. Lusiana Mosquera (177-C-2008) responded with 8 points for Ecuador. Uruguay - Bolivia 66-56 Uruguay held off Bolivia to improve at 2-2 record in Group A ladder. Uruguay eked out a 29-28 halftime lead. They used a 23-10 rally in the third term to secure a decisive 14-point lead heading into the fourth stanza. Julieta Laubert (169-G-2008) produced 23 points, while Mia Nilo (175-F-2008) added 14 points and 13 rebounds in the victory. Maria Viveros (169-PG-2008) answered with 24 points for Bolivia. Chile - Colombia 48-53 Colombia toppled Chile for the first win in Asuncion. Colombia eked out a 29-26 halftime lead. Chile surged ahead in the third term but Colombia limited the hosts to only 6 points in the fourth stanza to race to the win. Emily Rivera (174-SF-2008) and Mariany Mayo (182-C-2008) finished with 8 points each for Colombia. Constanza Mella (175-F-2009) answered with 11 points for Chile. Paraguay - Venezuela 60-65 Venezuela remained undefeated in Asuncion. They outscored Paraguay to improve at 3-0 record atop of Group B. Venezuela and Paraguay were tied at 31 at the big break. But Venezuela went on an 18-12 rally in the third stanza to take a decisive lead. Mezharith Beleno (172-G-2008) came up with 17 points and 10 rebounds for Venezuela. Giovana Gonzalez (165-G-2008) answered with 20 points for Paraguay. |
