The official calendar of the 2006 South American Club Championship was revealed by the general secretary of the South American Basketball Confederation (Consubasquet), argentinian Eduardo Dagnino Cordova. The tournament will be played in Barquisimeto, Venezuela, at Domo Bolivariano, a spectacular gymnasium that can receive 10.000 visitors, from October 18th till October 22nd.
The gymnasium is the home of current runner-ups of Liga Profesional de Baloncesto, Guaros de Lara, and has held important international events such as Liga Sudamericana games or the World League of Volleyball, alongside musical and entertainment celebrations.
Guerreros de Lara (Venezuela) will be the host team after becoming the champions of Liga Nacional de Baloncesto 2005, back when they played their home games in Caracas instead of their current hometown, Barquisimeto. The other teams that will participate are Boca Juniors (Argentina), Gimnasia y Esgrima Comodoro Rivadavia (Argentina), Universo BRB (Brazil), Deportivo San Jose (Paraguay) and Universidad Catolica (Chile). Teams are expected to arrive next Monday, October 16th.
