Guerreros de Lara agreed to terms with Delfines de Miranda and Tiburones de Vargas, so they can use guard Diego Guevara (184-G-77) and power forward Tomas Aguilera (198-F-77), respectively, as venezuelan reinforcement players for the upcoming 2006 South American Club Championship, which will be played at Domo Bolivariano of Barquisimeto, Venezuela, from October 18th till the 22nd.
Guevara was born in Barquisimeto and usually plays in the city during Liga Profesional de Baloncesto, with hometown team Guaros de Lara, franchise that belongs to the same owner of Guerreros, the Total Sports organization. He recently recovered successfully from a shoulder surgery performed in Charlotte, United States, where he resides.
His injury came during LPB 2006s Quarter Finals after crashing against Antonio Torcatt (178-G-77), of Guaiqueries de Margarita. He missed the rest of the playoffs, couldn't help Guaros in its quest for their first ever championship and also missed the World Cup of Japan with the NT of Venezuela.
Meanwhile, Aguilera won the LPB championship with Trotamundos de Carabobo and went on to be one of the best players in Japan with the NT. Then, he joined Tiburones de Vargas and has become one of the top rebounders and scorers in the current LNB action.
Both players will inmediately return to their original franchises after the South American Championship ends. Guerreros is still looking for a second imported player to combine with the recently signed Scooter Sherrill (190-G-81).
