Hodge is back at Ahly Tripoli

Walter Hodge

Al Ahly Tripoli (D1) signed experienced 38-year old U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican ex-international point guard Walter Hodge (183cm-1986, college: Florida). It is actually his comeback to Tripoli as he has played here before. He played last season at Cangrejeros de Santurce in Puerto Rican BSN league. In 24 games just recently he had 14.2ppg, 1.8rpg, 4.1apg and 1.1spg. 2024-24 was a great season as he was named to Latinbasket.com All-Puerto Rican BSN Honorable Mention. He also played for Real Esteli (LSB) in Nicaraguan league. The last season he played at Al Ahly Tripoli.
Hodge also represented U.S. Virgin Islands at the FIBA World Cup 2023 Americas Qualifiers last year. During this event he scored an average of 11.5 points per game and had 3.5 rebounds per game.
He is quite experienced player. Hodge has played in twelve different countries on five different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa and of course North America). He has played previously professionally in France (ASVEL Lyon Villeurbanne Basket), Italy, Kuwait (Kuwait), Lebanon (Sagesse and Homentmen), Poland (Enea Zastal), Russia (Zenit), Saudi Arabia (Al Wehda), Spain (Baskonia), Tunisia (US Monastir), Egypt (Zamalek and Al Ahly Cairo) and The Basketball Tournament (War Tampa and Gataverse).
Among many awards he won Kuwait League championship title in 2022. Hodge was also voted Afrobasket.com All-Egyptian Superleague Player of the Year and Afrobasket.com All-Egyptian Superleague Import Player of the Year back in 2021.
It's very possible he may end his playing career at Ahly Tripoli.
He graduated from University of Florida in 2009 and it will be his 16th (!!!) season as a professional player.
