Fenix and Immortals go unbeaten in 2023: Co-Champions

GIE Cibao Immortals celebrated their sixth United Cup Gold. They beat Costa Rica in the Final in Santiago tonight to claim the co-title along with Fenix. James Milton (203-F-1992, college: Stevenson) provided 19 points and 14 rebounds to lead the champions. Jefry Arias (182-G-1997) and the Fenix destroy BC Uprise 79-39. Aries added 20 points and 5 assists.

Immortals opened the game on a 14:2 run. But Costa Rica found their answer in Daniel Shedden as he scored 8 consecutive points to keep his national country close. Immortals however finished the quarter on a strong rally to take a 23:14 lead after ten minutes. Immortals quickly ballooned the lead to as many as 14 points in the second period. James Milton came up big for the Immortals with 19 points and 14 rebounds. But Immortals stayed confident restoring a double-digit lead and finishing the first half up by 12 points 43:31. GIE started to overwhelm CR in the third quarter. Amet Gil (191-G-1988) (191-G/F-1988) completed three-point play to give the Immortals a 2-point lead late in the fourth.

The Immortals won the game 72-66 to claim their co- United Cup title. Fenix was impressive start to finish outlasting the American squad 79-39. Jefry Arias was named Finals MVP.
