Coach Jermaine Barnes (ex Cibao Immortals) agreed terms with East Sea Pirates- March 28, 2024

The East Sea Pirates (TAT) will be led by Jermaine Barnes , a 40-year-old American coach. He most recently coached at Immortals de Cibao in the Dominican LDC Superior League. He coached the US Senior National Team in 2016 winning a silver medal in the William Jones Cup. Barnes has also coached professionally in Germany (Rheinland), Mexico (Pioneras de Delicias), Morocco (AMIB), Lebanon (Chabibeh), Spain (SG Bergishe Loewen), France (Chiyah) and Dominican Republic (GIE Cibao Immortals). In 2020, he was voted Eurobasket.com All-German 2.Bundesliga Coach of the Year after leading his club to the finals with a 18-2 record. "I'm very excited to return to Taiwan", said Barnes. The best moments of my career were in Taiwan at the Jones Cup. So I am very excited to return. Jeff Joseph was responsible for me playing in Taiwan and now also for me coaching in Taiwan. I am ready to work! Barnes is entering his seventh season as a professional coach. A native of Atlanta, Ga., he played collegiately for Point University, earning first-team All-American & Player of the Year honors his senior season. Barnes spent 15 seasons of professional basketball across globe including Japan (Renova), Saudi Arabia (Al Ahli), Urugay (Universitario), Mexico (Frayles), Taiwan (US National Team), Germany (Loewen), Spain (Parc Boet), Costa Rica (Liberia), Cyprus (Yenicami), Minnesota Timberwolves (NBA), Morocco (AMIB), Dominican Republic (Titanes de Miramar), Lebanon (Chabibeh). In 2012, he won a silver medal at the FIBA William Jones Cup as a member of the Men's US National Team. He was voted AsiaBasket.com All-Jones Cup Defensive First Team and All-Tournament honors. He would later sign a non-guaranteed contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
