Metropolitan Round 5: L.Borges are defeated by Cordon in a derby game- August 12, 2021
What a coincidence that all visitors won their games. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.
Miramar - Tabare 91-97 Tabare has registered their first victory this season after two consecutive losses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Montevideo, where they defeated Miramar (1-2) 97-91 on Tuesday. Tabare made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Argentinian center Ignacio Alessio (203-87) who scored 33 points (!!!). Point guard Facundo Medina (190-94) chipped in 22 points. Point guard Ignacio Morena (183-0) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points, 5 rebounds, 10 assists and 5 steals and Sebastian Ottonello (195-97) added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for the hosts. Four Tabare and five Miramar players scored in double figures. Tabare left bottom position moving up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Miramar. Tabare will meet at home bottom-ranked Danubio (#12) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Miramar's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena L.Borges. The best player for the winners was point guard Juan Galletto (182-96) who scored 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Mateo Giano chipped in 21 points. Argentinian forward Martin Chervo (200-92) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and forward Nicolas Andreoli (197-0) added 22 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Five Stockolmo and four Danubio players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Stockolmo have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Cordon. Loser Danubio still closes the standings with three games lost. L.Borges were defeated at home 74-82 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Cordon looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 27 personal fouls committed by L.Borges helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Bernardo Barrera (194-97) stepped up and scored 32 points and 4 assists for the winners and forward Octavio Medina (195-96) chipped in 11 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. American center Ricardo Glenn (203-90, college: USC Upstate) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 15 rebounds and guard Felipe Garcia (173-99) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Verdirrojo was defeated at home 67-74 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Point guard Brian Garcia (182-90) nailed 27 points for the winning side and Argentinian power forward Franco Pennacchiotti (205-90) accounted for 8 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists. Four 25 de Agosto players scored in double figures. Guard Andres Dotti (180-93) came up with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Manuel Monteverde (194-95) added 4 points and 16 rebounds respectively for Verdirrojo in the defeat. Verdirrojo's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. 25 de Agosto (2-0) moved-up to third place. Verdirrojo at the other side keeps the seventh position with two games lost. They share it with 3 other teams.
