Colon - U.Atletica 74-71 Bottom-ranked U.Atletica (0-3) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 74-71 loss to fifth ranked Colon (2-1) in Colon on Thursday evening. American Lenny Daniel (203-87, college: CSUN) scored 27 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard JMartin Mayora (181-95) chipped in 11 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. Four Colon players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was power forward DNicolas Delgado (198-87) with 8 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists and forward Joaquin Dios (184-2) scored 21 points and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Sayago (1-2) to top-ranked Lagomar (2-0) 64-62 on Thursday evening. Lagomar forced 22 Sayago turnovers. The best player for the winners was forward Pablo Macanskas (196-90) who scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Point guard Martin Perdomo (178-95) chipped in 8 points and 4 assists. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Tabare, where they defeated Tabare (1-3) 92-81. It was a good game for forward Nicolas Andreoli (197-0) who led his team to a victory with 26 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Santiago Fernandez (190-0) contributed with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Danubio's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Argentinian center Ignacio Alessio (203-87) replied with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Facundo Medina (190-94) added 15 points in the effort for Tabare. Five Danubio and four Tabare players scored in double figures. It was the only win of guest team this round and in all other games host teams recorded victories. Both ninth ranked L.Borges and 7th ranked Miramar had identical 1-2 record. This time L.Borges used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Montevideo 83-71 on Friday night. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when L.Borges made 9 blocks. Forward Demian Alvarez (193-84) scored 30 points to lead the charge for the winners and American center Ricardo Glenn (203-90, college: USC Upstate) chipped in 18 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Four L.Borges players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Sebastian Ottonello (195-97) with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 10 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and American center Malik Wineglass (203-93, college: Harris-Stowe St.) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. L.Borges (2-2) moved-up to sixth place. Loser Miramar dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. They share it with Tabare and Danubio.
