LSB Round 7: Nacional FC defeat Circulo

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of Circulo (0-9) in Salto on Friday night. Hosts were rolled over by Nacional FC (8-1) 91-46. Nacional FC held Circulo to an opponent 19.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 47.9 percent accuracy of the winners. Nacional FC forced 20 Circulo turnovers and outrebounded them 72-26 including a 26-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Luca Cattani (188-1995) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws). Guard Ignacio Cardozo (189-1992) contributed with 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Guard Nicolas Torrens (169-1998) answered with 18 points and 6 steals for Circulo. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Nacional FC have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain first place with 8-1 record, which they share with Ferro CS. Circulo at the other side still keeps top with nine games lost. Nacional FC's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Salto Universitario.
Fifth-ranked Universitario (2-7) was very close to win a game against third ranked Salto Uru. (6-3). Salto Uru. managed to secure only one-point victory 74-73. However their fans expected easier game. It was a great evening for American forward Kevin Nelson (193-1984, college: Park) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. Pedro Pecanha helped adding 19 points and 10 rebounds. At the losing side American power forward Andre McPhail (201-1993, college: CS Los Angeles) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds. Universitario's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Salto Uru. maintains third place with 6-3 record having just six point less than leader Nacional FC. Universitario lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the fifth position with seven games lost. Salto Uru.'s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Salto Ferro CS.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Salto: Ferro CS (#1) and Juventus (#4). Ferro CS (8-1) won against visiting Juventus (3-6) 73-64. It was an exceptional evening for Diego Dias Silva who led the winners and scored 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Bruno Bellacci came up with 22 points for Juventus in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ferro CS maintains first place with 8-1 record. Loser Juventus keep the fourth position with six games lost. Ferro CS's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Salto to the arena Salto Uru..



Salto Uru. - Universitario 74-73

Fifth-ranked Universitario (2-7) was very close to win a game against third ranked Salto Uru. (6-3). Salto Uru. managed to secure only one-point victory 74-73. However their fans expected easier game.
