Karina Acosta gets MVP of the Week award for Uruguayan Liga Femenina (by Hoops Agents)

Experienced Karina Acosta (F-1986) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Juventud and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 8.
The 36-year old forward had a double-double of 37 points and eleven rebounds, while her team lost the game against Remeros (#8, 2-8) 54-76. Juventud maintains the 10th position in Uruguayan Liga Femenina. They are still not able to win a single game in the league yet. The season is in a full swing, so it's only a dream for the team to make it into top half of the standings. For contrary they may face relegation if the situation turns from bad to worse. The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Paraguayan forward Paloma Niz (175-F-1999) of second-ranked D.Sporting. Niz impressed basketball fans with 10 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists. Bad luck as D.Sporting lost that game 48-64 to the lower-ranked Yale (#6, 4-5). D.Sporting managed to keep the same second spot in the standings. It was just her team's 2nd loss this season, while they won 8 other games. Niz is one of the most experienced players at D.Sporting and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 13.3ppg (#9). Her other stats are also decent: 5.6rpg and 3.3apg.

The third best performed player last round was Sofia Herrera (179-SG-2005) of Aguada (#3). Herrera scored 11 points and grabbed twenty rebounds (!!!). She was a key player of Aguada, leading her team to a 59-47 win against #4 ranked Hebraica in a game of the week. Aguada needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 7 victories and 2 lost games. Herrera has a very solid season. In 8 games in Uruguay she scored 9.5ppg. She also has 7.5rpg, 2.1spg and FGP: 51.7%.
