Josefina Rivera
Josefina Rivera (177-C-1998) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's second-best Aguada and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 2 (Second Stage).
The 25-year old center had a double-double of 19 points and ten rebounds, while her team crushed Hebraica (#5, 1-2) with 25-point margin 72-47. Aguada maintains the 2nd position in Uruguayan Liga Femenina. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this stage. Aguada will need more victories to improve their 2-1 record. In the team's last game Rivera had a remarkable 85.7% from 2-point range. She has many years of experience at Aguada, through which she has constantly improved. Rivera has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in rebounds (8th best: 8.9rpg) and averages solid 1.2bpg and 51.3% FGP.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Argentinian Agustina Bazan (174-SF-2003) of Yale. Bazan impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 17 points and 15 rebounds. Of course she led Yale to another comfortable win 58-44 over Hebraica (1-2) being unquestionably team leader. The Second Stage is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Bazan is one of the most experienced players at Yale and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.3ppg (#3). Her other stats are also decent: 9.6rpg and 4.7apg.
The third best performed player last round was Paraguayan Paloma Niz (175-F-1999) of D.Sporting (#4). Niz scored 26 points and grabbed seven rebounds. She was a key player of D.Sporting, leading her team to a 73-55 easy win against 25 de Agosto (#6, 0-3). The chances of D.Sporting not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 2 games, recording just one victories. With bigger assistance of her teammates, Niz could try to bring D.Sporting's a little bit higher in the standings. Niz has a very solid season. In 12 games in Uruguay she scored 12.8ppg. She also has 5.4rpg, 3.3apg and 3.1spg.
