Bianchi's double-double lands him Metropolitan (Second Stage) Player of the Week award- September 13, 2023
He had a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds, while his team beat Capitol (#7, 11-11) 82-69. Welcome is placed at 3rd position in Uruguayan Metropolitan. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier in Second Stage. Welcome will need more victories to improve their 14-8 record. It was one of impressive evenings for Bianchi as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Mateo Bianchi averages this season 8.5ppg. Second best performed player last round was Martin Chervo (200-F-1992) of Sayago. He is Argentinian forward in his first season at Sayago. In the last game Chervo recorded impressive 26 points and 7 rebounds. Bad luck as Sayago lost that game 81-88 to the higher-ranked Urunday (#1, 18-4). Despite lost game Sayago moved up to 5th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 12-10 record is not bad and everything may still change. Chervo is a newcomer at Sayago and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. Third place about best performers goes to forward Santiago Serna (203-F/C-2001) of O.Mundial (#13). Serna scored 19 points and grabbed eighteen rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of O.Mundial, leading his team to a 84-67 easy win against slightly higher-ranked Stockolmo (#12, 10-12). The chances of O.Mundial not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 14 games, recording just eight victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Serna could try to bring O.Mundial's a little bit higher in the standings. Serna has a very solid season. In 3 games in Uruguay he scored 16.7ppg.
