Bazan's 19 points and 8 assists give her Player of the Week award- September 14, 2023
She had the game-high 19 points adding five rebounds and eight assists for Yale in her team's victory, helping them to edge out 25 de Agosto (#6, 2-8) 69-67. Yale maintains the 4th position in Uruguayan Liga Femenina. Yale is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. But it was their 5th lost game this season out of 9 games. In the team's last game Bazan had a remarkable 87.5% from 2-point range. She turned to be Yale's top player in her first season with the team. Bazan has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (4th best: 14.6ppg), rebounds (4th best: 9.5rpg), assists (3rd best: 4.8apg) and averages solid 3.5spg and 52.7% FGP. Second best performed player last round was Ornela Bacchini (188-C-1989) of D.Sporting. She is Argentinian center in her first season at D.Sporting. In the last game Bacchini recorded impressive double-double of 10 points and 17 rebounds. Bad luck as D.Sporting lost that game 58-67 to slightly higher-ranked Aguada (#2, 7-3). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. D.Sporting still maintains its place in the top 3 of the standings, even despite this loss. Her team's 5-5 record is not bad at all. Bacchini is a newcomer at D.Sporting and despite she is not a team leader yet, every game she becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often. Third place about best performers goes to swingman Catalina Pereira (176-F/G-2004) of 25 de Agosto (#6). Pereira scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Despite Pereira's great performance 25 de Agosto lost 67-69 to slightly higher-ranked Yale (#4, 4-5). But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates. 25 de Agosto can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 2-8 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Pereira has a very solid season. In 19 games in Uruguay she scored 8.2ppg. Other top performing players last week: 4. Camila Kirschenbaum (170-G-2002) of Aguada - 21 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists 5. Sabina Bello (173-SG-1989) of Malvin - 14 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists 6. Jacqueline Soto) of Aguada - 9 points and 7 rebounds 7. Paula Fernandez (178-PF-2005) of Malvin - 13 points and 4 rebounds 8. Sabrina Molina (179-PF-1998) of 25 de Agosto - 8 points and 13 rebounds 9. Luciana Chagas (174-G/F-2002) of Yale - 17 points and 4 rebounds 10. Maria Jourdheuil (180-PF-1994) of Malvin - 4 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
