Curry's 33-point game gives him Player of the Week award

Malik Curry

24-year old American guard Malik Curry (184-G-1999) put on an amazing game in the last round for Defensor Sporting Club Montevideo and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 17.
He had the game-high 33 points adding four rebounds and six assists for Defensor in his team's victory, helping them to beat Bigua (#6, 7-9) 96-86. Defensor maintains the 4th position in Uruguayan league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Defensor will need more victories to improve their 10-6 record. In the team's last game Curry had a remarkable 75.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be Defensor's top player in his first season with the team. West Virginia University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Curry is league's best scorer averaging so far 23.4ppg. Curry is in league's top in assists (7th best: 5.1apg).

Second best performed player last round was Eric Anderson (204-F/C-1993) of league's second-best Nacional De Futbol Montevideo. He is American forward in his first season at Nacional. In the last game Anderson recorded an impressive 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Of course he led Nacional to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Goes (#10, 5-10) 111-61. Nacional's second position in the standings has not changed. His team lost just two games this season, while they won 12 matches. Anderson is a newcomer at Nacional and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Miguel Simon (203-F-1994, agency: BMS Sport Agency) of Urupan de Pando (#11). Simon scored 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Urupan, leading his team to a 85-53 easy win against the higher-ranked Trouville (#8, 6-9). The chances of Urupan not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 11 games, recording just five victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Simon could try to bring Urupan's a little bit higher in the standings. Simon has a very solid season. In 2 games in Uruguay he scored 18.5ppg.
