The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Aguada (21-6) in Montevideo on Tuesday night. Hosts were defeated by eighth ranked Cordon (12-14) 88-82. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Aguada. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Italian guard Federico Bavosi (190-1981, agency: Pro Sports) who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. American power forward Chaz Crawford (208-1984, college: Drexel) contributed with 14 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. American Victor Rudd (206-1991, college: S.Florida) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds for Aguada. Cordon maintains eighth place with 12-14 record. Aguada at the other side still keeps top position with six games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Montevideo: Nacional (#4) and Defensor (#3). Defensor was crushed at home by 37 points 58-95 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It was a great evening for American power forward Eric Anderson (204-1993, college: New Haven) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Sebastian Ottonello helped adding 16 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side Mateo Bianchi (203-2002) responded with 15 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Nacional (17-8) moved-up to third place. Defensor at the other side dropped to the fourth position with ten games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Montevideo: Penarol (#2) and Hebraica (#5). Penarol (20-6) crushed visiting Hebraica (15-10) by 25 points 99-74. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hebraica. It was an exceptional evening for Eloy Vargas who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. Franklin Hassell came up with 16 points and 8 rebounds for Hebraica in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Penarol maintains second place with 20-6 record behind leader Malvin. Defending champion Hebraica keeps the fifth position with ten games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

In the last two games of round 7 Bigua was beaten by Trouville on the road 73-67. Urupan lost to Malvin on its own court 78-93.



Trouville - Bigua 73-67

There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Trouville (11-17) beat 6th ranked Bigua (13-15) in Montevideo 73-67 on Monday. It was an exceptional evening for American power forward Lee Roberts (203-1987, college: Findlay, OH, agency: BIG) who led the winners and scored 20 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Bernardo Barrera (200-1997) accounted for 12 points for the winning side. American center Myles Carter (206-1997, college: Seattle, agency: Worldwide SM) came up with 12 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Leandro Garcia (188-1999) added 12 points respectively for Bigua in the defeat. Trouville have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain ninth place with 11-17 record. Loser Bigua keeps the sixth position with 15 games lost. Trouville's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena L.Borges.

Very expected game when 11th ranked Urupan (8-20) lost at home to seventh ranked Malvin (15-13) 93-78 on Monday. Malvin looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American Daniel Hamilton (201-1995, college: UConn) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import guard Shamorie Ponds (185-1998, college: St.John's, agency: Worldwide SM) accounted for 17 points and 9 assists for the winning side. Four Malvin players scored in double figures. Malvin's coach Federico Camina used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Dominican forward Miguel Simon (203-1994, college: ASA CC, agency: BMS Sport Agency) came up with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds and forward Gianfranco Espindola (196-1999) added 13 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Urupan in the defeat. Malvin have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain seventh place with 15-13 record. Urupan lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 20 games lost. Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Montevideo: Nacional (#4) and Defensor (#3). It was a great shooting night for Nacional especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hebraica. Penarol made 27-of-31 free shots (87.1 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Dominican center Eloy Vargas (211-1988, college: Kentucky, agency: BIG) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. American guard Shaquille Johnson (191-1990, college: Marshall) accounted for 19 points and 5 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) for the winning side. American center Franklin Hassell (205-1988, college: ODU) came up with 16 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import swingman Jordan Williams (196-1992, college: N.Texas) added 10 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Hebraica in the defeat.
