Liga Femenina Round 4 (Regular Season): Remeros record their first victory

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

Remeros has registered their first victory this season after two consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Tabare (0-3) 68-52 on Saturday. Remeros held Tabare to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 39.1 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Tabare 47-31 including a 37-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of center Ornella Bacchini (-1989) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and center Melina Zapata (180-1989) who added 13 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side point guard Catalina Tano (174-2003) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 13 steals. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Remeros maintains sixth position with 1-2 record, which they share with Juventud and Lagomar. It was Tabare's third loss in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with three games lost. Remeros is looking forward to face Lagomar (#7) in Montevideo in the next round. Tabare will play at home against Hebraica and hopes to get finally their first victory.
Bottom-ranked Hebraica (0-4) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fourth consecutive match to fourth ranked Aguada (3-1) 107-14. The winners were led by forward Pierina Rossi (171-2004) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 15 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 10 steals and Daniela Tovagliari supported her with 22 points and 5 steals. Even 3 points and 10 rebounds by forward Pierina Carrica (-2004) did not help to save the game for Hebraica. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Aguada moved-up to third place, which they share with Yale. Hebraica at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. Aguada will play against Urunday (#9) in Montevideo in the next round where they are favorite. Hebraica will play on the road against Tabare and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
The game in Las Piedras supposed to be also quite interesting. Top-ranked D.Sporting (3-0) played at the court of 7th ranked Juventud (1-2). D.Sporting did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 58-38 on Saturday. Lucia Schiavo fired 9 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Florencia Spinelli produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. D.Sporting have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 3-0 record behind leader Malvin. Loser Juventud dropped to the sixth place with two games lost. They share the position with Remeros and Lagomar. D.Sporting's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo 25 de Agosto.

In the last two games of round 4 Lagomar was destroyed by Yale on the opponent's court 94-63. Urunday lost to defending champion Malvin in a home game 50-75.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 12 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists by Carolina Fernandez of Malvin.

Very expected game in Montevideo where 10th ranked Lagomar (1-2) was crushed by third ranked Yale (3-1) 94-63 on Saturday. Yale dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Lagomar's 24 and made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Yale forced 26 Lagomar turnovers and outrebounded them 45-27 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Argentinian point guard Julieta Sienra (161-2003) fired 23 points for the winners.
