The most surprising game was a loss of Capitol on the court of Tabare on Thursday night. Visitors were defeated by Tabare 93-87. Tabare looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Rodrigo Cardozo (191-1992) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard Jervae Robinson (188-1998, college: WSU) contributed with 29 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Forward Santiago Tucuna (197-2002) replied with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds for Capitol.
Important game to mention about took place in Colon. Montevideo saved a 2-point victory on the road edging Colon 77-75 on Thursday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Center Mauricio Arregui (200-1998) scored 22 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Xavier Couste chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. American Anthony Danridge (196-1986, college: N.Mexico) responded with 17 points and 7 rebounds.
A very close game took place in Montevideo (derby !!!) between Stockolmo and Verdirrojo. Stockolmo got a very close victory on the road over Verdirrojo. Stockolmo managed to escape with a 3-point win 95-92 in the game for the fifth place. Mauro Zubiaurre notched a triple-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists to lead the effort. Even a double-double of 20 points and 26 rebounds by Randy Rickards did not help to save the game for Verdirrojo.
There were no big surprises in other games of round 2: winless L.Borges were beaten by Olimpia on the road 92-84. Winless O.Mundial lost to undefeated Goes on its own court 80-88. Bohemios managed to outperform U.Atletica in Montevideo 71-60.
The most impressive performance of 2nd round was 25 points and 12 rebounds by Nicolas Catala of Bohemios.
