Lara Barbato gets MVP of the Week award for Uruguayan Liga Femenina

Talented Lara Barbato (181-F-2004) put on an amazing game in the last round for Yale Montevideo and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 7.
The 19-year old forward had a double-double of 21 points and 15 rebounds, while her team outclassed, the league's bottom-ranked team Hebraica (#11, 0-7) with 55-point margin 86-31. Yale is placed at 3rd position in Uruguayan Liga Femenina. They are still close to the very top. Yale would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 5-1 record. Barbato just recently signed at Yale, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Barbato has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (6th best: 14.3ppg), rebounds (4th best: 9.8rpg) and averages solid 2.5spg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was another Yale's star - young point guard Romina Dalesandro (157-PG-2003). Dalesandro impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 15 points and 10 assists. Of course together with Barbato she helped Yale Montevideo with another comfortable win outscoring Hebraica (#11, 0-7) 86-31. This victory allowed Yale to move up to 3rd position in the standings. Her team lost just one game this season, while they won 5 matches. Dalesandro is a newcomer at Yale and despite she is not a team leader yet, every game she becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

The third best performed player last round was Paraguayan Natalia Quevedo (170-F-1998) of Lagomar Canelones Montevideo (#9). Quevedo scored 20 points and grabbed 17 rebounds (!!!). Despite Quevedo's great performance the Lagomar lost 48-53 to the higher-ranked Urunday (#5, 4-3). But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Lagomar not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 4 games, recording just two victories. With bigger assistance of her teammates, Quevedo could try to bring Lagomar's a little bit higher in the standings. Quevedo has individually a great season in Uruguay. After only 6 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 15.0ppg (3rd best).
