The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Yale in Montevideo on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by Aguada 83-75. Aguada looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Forward Florencia Fernandez (175-1998) had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 18 rebounds and 5 blocks to lead the charge for the winners and Argentinian point guard Sofia Acevedo (167-2001) chipped in 11 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. Argentinian Agustina Bazan (174-2003) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals. Yale's coach Gino Alderete rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Aguada is looking forward to face Urunday in Montevideo in the next round where they are favorite. Yale will play on the road against Remeros in Mercedes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Montevideo: Malvin and Urunday. Malvin smashed visiting Urunday by 17 points 75-58. Argentinian forward Carla Miculka (174-1993) notched 21 points to lead the effort and Fernanda Midaglia supported her with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 20 points and 7 rebounds by Argentinian point guard Abril Ramirez (167-2000) did not help to save the game for Urunday. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. D.Sporting crushed at home Remeros by 38 points 83-45, which is the biggest margin this round on Saturday night. The best player for the winners was Josefina Zeballos who scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. D.Sporting's coach Fabian Boscardin felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ornella Bacchini produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds for the guests. In the last two games of round 2 Juventud destroyed Hebraica on the opponent's court 76-40. Lagomar outscored Tabare in a home game 77-48.
