Macanskas number one in Uruguayan Metropolitan for round 23

Power forward Pablo Macanskas (196-PF-1990) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for second-ranked Union Atletica Montevideo, receiving a Hoops Agents Metropolitan Player of the Week award for round 23.
The 34-year old player was the main contributor (26 points, seven rebounds and five assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Colon (#6, 12-11) 87-76. U.Atletica maintains the 2nd position in Uruguayan Metropolitan. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. U.Atletica will need more victories to improve their 15-6 record. In the team's last game Macanskas had a remarkable 81.8% from 2-point range. It was one of impressive evenings for him as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Pablo Macanskas averages this season 11.0ppg and 6.5rpg.

The second best player in last round's games was young Octavio Medina (195-F-1996) of Bohemios Montevideo. Medina had a very good evening with 37 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Bad luck as Bohemios lost that game 82-92 to the higher-ranked Larranaga (#4, 13-9). Bohemios is still second from the bottom in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 8-14 record. Medina is a newcomer at Bohemios, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was forward Manuel Oyenard (194-F-2000) of Colon F.C. (#6). Oyenard showcased his all-around game by recording 27 points, 12 rebounds (!!!) and 4 assists in the last round. Despite Oyenard's great performance the Colon lost 76-87 to the higher-ranked U.Atletica (#2, 15-6). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Colon needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 12 victories and 11 lost games. Oyenard has a great season in Uruguay. After 23 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 9.3rpg (9th best).
