Chile roll over Uruguay in Santiago to start their 2024 South American Championship campaign on a high note. The hosts posted an 80-64 win in Day 1. Uruguay grabbed an early 16-14 run, whilst Chile replied with a 23-19 rally in the second frame. Chile posted two massive runs in the second half to secure the win.
Fernanda Ovalle (178-G-2003, college: Xavier) top-scored for the winners with 23 points and Catalina Perez (195-F-1997) netted 15. Carolina Fernandez (186-G-2003) answered with 20 points in defeat and Florencia Niski (165-PG-2002) poured in 16.
