Atletico Cordon Montevideo (LUB) agreed terms with 23-year-old double-passport holder Italian point guard Mateo Giano (186cm-84kg-2000) for the upcoming 2024-25 season. He played last season at Sportiva Italiana in the Chilean LNB league. In 15 games, he had 11.0ppg, 2.7rpg, 3.3apg, and 1.2spg.
He has played previously for three other Uruguay teams: Stockolmo, Capitol, and Peñarol.
Giano's team reached the Uruguay Metropolitan League Semifinals in 2022. He was voted to Latinbasket.com All-Uruguay Metropolitan League Honorable Mention in 2023.
