Maria Ferreira gets MVP of the Week award for Uruguayan Liga Femenina (Second Stage) - by Hoops Agents

Brazilian Maria Ferreira (192-C-1994) had a great game in the last round for Atletico Aguada and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 9 (Second Stage).
The 30-year old center had a double-double of 27 points and 12 rebounds, while her team beat Remeros (#5, 1-8) 64-51. Aguada maintains the 3rd position in Uruguayan Liga Femenina. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Second Stage. Aguada will need more victories to improve their 7-2 record. Ferreira turned to be Aguada's top player in her first season with the team. Maria Ferreira averages this season 16.2ppg and 13.4rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Argentinian guard Rocio Bereilh (165-G-2001) of 25 de Agosto Montevideo. Bereilh impressed basketball fans with 30 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Of course 25 de Agosto cruised to a 64-53 relatively comfortable win over slightly higher-ranked Lagomar (#8, 5-2). 25 de Agosto's 9th position in the standings has not changed. Her team lost some distance to top teams. But a 4-3 record is not bad and everything may still change. Bereilh is well-known by 25 de Agosto fans and she already established her position as one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.0ppg (#4). Her other stats are also decent: 7.1rpg and 5.1apg.

The third best performed player last round was Argentinian Ornela Bacchini (188-C-1989, agency: BIG) of Remeros Mercedes (#5). Bacchini scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds (!!!). She was a key player of Remeros, leading her team to a 86-64 easy win against Urunday (#6, 0-9). Remeros can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 1-8 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Bacchini has individually a great season in Uruguay. After 18 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 10.3rpg (3rd best).

10. Valeria Barrett (175-SF-2000) of Remeros - 14 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists
