The Regular Season in LUB just started. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Cordon smashed Welcome in Montevideo 95-75. Cordon looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Welcome's players. Cape Verdean Victor Andrade (202-2000) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and American point guard Deshone Hicks (178-1999, college: Ferrum) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side point guard Geronimo Viera (172-2004) responded with 25 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Welcome will play next round against Bigua trying to get back on the winning streak. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena of Bigua. Cordon will try to continue on its current victory against Urupan at home.

Martin Rojas produced 21 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Urupan will meet Cordon in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Penarol's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Aguada.

In the last game of round 1 Trouville won against Urunday on the opponent's court 80-72.




Bigua - Malvin 73-86

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Bigua in Montevideo. Hosts were defeated by Malvin 86-73. Malvin made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. American swingman Anthony Hilliard (195-1986, college: ECSU) nailed 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and his fellow American import guard Carlton Guyton (190-1990, college: Kent St.) accounted for 20 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Five Malvin players scored in double figures. An interesting game took place in Montevideo where Penarol was upset on its own court by Urupan 78-71 on Friday. Urupan dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Penarol's 30. Canadian Anthony Peacock (206-1999, college: MWSU) fired a double-double by scoring 22 points and 17 rebounds for the winners. Argentinian Nahuel Amichetti (202-1998) chipped in 18 points.
