Rivera's double-double lands her Hoops Agents Player of the Week award

26-year old center Josefina Rivera (177-C-1998) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's best team Defensor Sporting Club Montevideo and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 8.
She had a double-double of 23 points and 11 rebounds, while her team edged out Yale (#3, 6-2) 72-68. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed D.Sporting to consolidate first place in the Uruguayan Liga Femenina. D.Sporting have a solid 7-1 record. In the team's last game Rivera had a remarkable 54.5% from 2-point range. She turned to be D.Sporting's top player in her first season with the team. Rivera has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (5th best: 17.0ppg), rebounds (8th best: 8.6rpg) and averages solid 2.7spg and 56.7% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Rocio Bereilh (165-G-2001) of 25 de Agosto Montevideo. She is Argentinian guard in her second season at 25 de Agosto. In the last game Bereilh recorded an impressive 28 points and 9 assists. Of course she led 25 de Agosto to another comfortable win outscoring Cordon (#10, 0-7) 100-53. This victory allowed 25 de Agosto to move up to 6th position in the standings. Her team lost some distance to top teams. But a 4-4 record is not bad and everything may still change. Bereilh is one of the most experienced players at 25 de Agosto and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.5ppg (#2). Her other stats are also decent: 6.5rpg and 5.3apg.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Mia Nilo (F-2008) of Urunday Universitario Montevideo (#7). Nilo got into 30-points club by scoring 31 points in the last round. She went also for ten rebounds . Despite Nilo's great performance the Urunday lost 62-70 to the higher-ranked Aguada (#4, 5-3). But her team cannot count on just a single shooter as she also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Urunday not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 5 games, recording just three victories. With bigger assistance of her teammates, Nilo could try to bring Urunday's a little bit higher in the standings. Nilo has a very solid season. In 8 games in Uruguay she scored 13.0ppg.
