Moreira's double-double lands her (Second Stage) Player of the Week award

26-year old Belen Moreira (1999) had an amazing evening in the last round for Lagomar Canelones Montevideo and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 6 (Second Stage).
She had a double-double of 27 points and 10 rebounds, while her team lost the game against Malvin (#3, 9-3) 55-72. Lagomar maintains the 5th position in Uruguayan Liga Femenina. Lagomar is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. But it was their 8th lost game this season out of 13 games. It was one of impressive evenings for Moreira as usually she does not deliver so high stats. Moreira has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in rebounds (3rd best: 11.3rpg) and averages solid 50.9% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Melina Marcial (168-G-1998) of Urunday Universitario Montevideo. She is Argentinian guard in her first season at Urunday. In the last game Marcial recorded an impressive double-double of 26 points and 11 rebounds. Of course she led Urunday to another comfortable win outscoring Cordon (#10, 0-12) 96-36. Urunday's 7th position in the standings has not changed. Her team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 6-7 record. Marcial is a newcomer at Urunday and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 18.0ppg (#3). Her other stats are also decent: 5.6rpg and 4.5apg.

Third place about best performers goes to swingman Agustina Garcia (173-F/G-1996) of Atletico Aguada (#4). Garcia showcased her all-around game by recording 15 points, 16 rebounds (!!!) and 8 assists in the last round. Despite Garcia's great performance the Aguada lost 65-100 to #1 ranked D.Sporting. But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The chances of Aguada ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 7 games, recording just six victories. With bigger assistance of her teammates, Garcia could help Aguada to bring them higher in the standings. Garcia has a great season in Uruguay. After only 6 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 14.3ppg (8th best), rebounds with 7.7rpg (9th best) and assists with 5.0apg (2nd best).
