Rivera's double-double lands her (Second Stage) Player of the Week award

Josefina Rivera

27-year old center Josefina Rivera (177-C-1998) had a great game in the last round for league's best team Defensor Sporting Club Montevideo and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 9 (Second Stage).
She had a double-double of 20 points and 13 rebounds, while her team beat Yale (#3, 11-4) 91-78. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed D.Sporting to consolidate first place in the Uruguayan Liga Femenina. D.Sporting have a solid 13-2 record. In the team's last game Rivera had a remarkable 75.0% from 2-point range. It's her second year at D.Sporting and it's hard to imagine this team without her. Rivera has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (7th best: 14.5ppg), rebounds (5th best: 8.8rpg) and averages solid 2.7spg and 56.3% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Camila Suarez (178-SG-2000). She is Argentinian guard in her first season at D.Sporting. In the last game Suarez recorded an impressive 24 points, 3 rebounds and 8 assists. Of course together with Rivera she helped Defensor Sporting Club Montevideo with another comfortable win 91-78 over slightly lower-ranked Yale (#3, 11-4) being unquestionably team leader. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. D.Sporting consolidated its place in the very top position of the standings. Her team lost just two games this Second Stage, while they won 13 matches. Suarez is a newcomer at D.Sporting and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.1ppg (#5). Her other stats are also decent: 5.4rpg and 4.8apg.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Matilde Talamas (F-2006) of Atletico Tabare (#4). Talamas scored 13 points and grabbed 16 rebounds (!!!). She was a key player of Tabare, leading her team to a 59-48 win against Cordon (#10, 0-15). Tabare can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 4-11 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Talamas has a very solid season. In 14 games in Uruguay she scored 8.8ppg.
