LUB Round 18 (Regular Season): Urunday is defeated by Hebraica in a derby game

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Montevideo: Hebraica (#5) and Urunday (#8). Hebraica (10-6) won against visiting Urunday (7-10) 90-85. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Hebraica made 7 blocks. 26 personal fouls committed by Urunday helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Joshua Webster (190-1997, college: Missouri St.) notched 16 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the effort and Nicolas Martinez supported him with 24 points. Even 18 points and 4 assists by guard Facundo Terra (187-1998) did not help to save the game for Defensor. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Malvin have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Defensor lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with eight games lost. LUB top team - Penarol (15-1) had no problems winning another game on Tuesday. This time they crushed twelfth ranked Welcome (1-16) in Montevideo 107-74. The best player for the winners was Santiago Vescovi who scored 20 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Rashad Hassan who recorded 25 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Penarol have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 15-1 record. Welcome lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 16 games lost. Guard Santiago Vidal (180-1989) chipped in 2 points, 8 rebounds and 11 assists.
