There are only two more rounds left in the Second Stage in LUB. What a coincidence that all visitors won their games. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
The most exciting game of round 8 in the LUB took place in Montevideo. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers Malvin (17-11) to fourth ranked Nacional (17-9) 71-69 in the game for the third place. Worth to mention a great performance of Panamanian power forward Ernesto Oglivie (203-1989) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 6 rebounds and American-Dominican center James Feldeine (193-1988, college: Quinnipiac) who added 7 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Nacional's coach Alvaro Ponce used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Joshua Webster (190-1997, college: Missouri St.) responded with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Defending champion moved-up to third place. Malvin at the other side dropped to the fourth position with 11 games lost. Nacional's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Penarol.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Montevideo: Defensor (#6) and Hebraica (#5). Hebraica was defeated at home 80-84 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The winners were led by American Elijah Weaver (197-1998, college: Chicago St.) who scored that evening 15 points and 4 assists and Victor Rudd supported him with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Defensor's coach Gonzalo Brea Rey allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 29 points and 6 rebounds by forward Ignacio Xavier (195-1999) did not help to save the game for Hebraica. Defensor maintains sixth position with 13-15 record. Hebraica lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 13 games lost. Defensor's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Malvin.
