Martina Schunk gets MVP of the Week award for Uruguayan Liga Femenina

Talented Argentinian Martina Schunk (181-C-2005) had a great game in the last round for Atletico Cordon Montevideo and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 4.
The 20-year old center had a double-double of 19 points and 19 rebounds, while her team beat 25 de Agosto (#9, 0-3), the league's bottom-ranked team 66-51. Cordon is placed at 8th position in Uruguayan Liga Femenina. The season is still in it's early stage, so the team may have a chance to improve their current position in the standings. They lost 3 games and had just one victory. Schunk just recently signed at Cordon, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Schunk has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (5th best: 14.8ppg) and averages solid 1.8bpg and 4.0spg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Argentinian power forward Giselle Botta (180-F/C-1999) of Yale Montevideo. Botta impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 22 points and 14 rebounds. Bad luck as Yale lost that game 68-85 to slightly higher-ranked Tabare (#3, 2-1). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Yale still maintains its place in the top 4 of the standings, even despite this loss. Her team's 2-2 record is not bad at all. Botta is one of the most experienced players at Yale and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.0ppg (#2). She also registered 12.3 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was Argentinian Camila Suarez (178-SG-2000) of top-ranked Defensor Sporting Club Montevideo. Suarez showcased her all-around game by recording 14 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists in the last round. She was a key player of D.Sporting, leading her team to a 61-60 win against #2 ranked Malvin. D.Sporting started extremely well this year. They recorded 4 victories without losing a single game. Suarez turns to be one of the very best players in the league while she is also a leader of the top team having her eyes on the championship title. Suarez has a great season in Uruguay. After only 4 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 5.5apg (2nd best).
