Selena Medrick gets MVP of the Week award for Uruguayan Liga Femenina

Selena Medrick (177-C-2002) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's second-best Malvin Montevideo and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 7.
The 23-year old center had a double-double of 16 points and 16 rebounds, while her team crushed Tabare (#4, 3-3) with 23-point margin 72-49. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Malvin is placed at 2nd position in Uruguayan Liga Femenina. They are still close to the very top. Malvin would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 5-1 record. Medrick just recently signed at Malvin, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Medrick has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in rebounds (4th best: 10.0rpg).

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young power forward Fiorella Bertinat (179-PF-2010) of Atletico Aguada. Bertinat impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 26 points and 13 rebounds. Of course she led Aguada to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Yale (#6, 3-3) 93-63. Aguada's 3rd position in the standings has not changed. Her team's 5-2 record is not bad at all. Bertinat is one of the most experienced players at Aguada and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was Argentinian Camila Suarez (178-SG-2000) of top-ranked Defensor Sporting Club Montevideo. Suarez showcased her all-around game by recording 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the last round. She was a key player of D.Sporting, leading her team to a 74-60 easy win against the lower-ranked Urunday (#7, 2-5). D.Sporting started extremely well this year. They recorded 6 victories without losing a single game. Suarez turns to be one of the very best players in the league while she is also a leader of the top team having her eyes on the championship title. Suarez has a great season in Uruguay. After only 6 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 12.8ppg (8th best) and assists with 4.8apg (3rd best).
