Linabafe 2014 - Finals - Game 5: Deportivo Anzoategui wins the championship - Nov 29, 2014

Barquisimeto, Venezuela.- Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Femenino 2014 (Linabafe 2014) comes to an end with the beginning of the Finals between Deportivo Anzoategui and Bucaneras de La Guaira and Deportivo Anzoategui took revenge on Bucaneras by turning the table about what happened in the 2013 Finals, as they won the 2014 championship with a victory in Game 5, 88-78, in an overtime thriller at Luis Ramos Arena of Puerto La Cruz.

Bucaneras seemed determined to win it as visitors and repeat their 2013 performance against Anzoategui. After a 14-14 in the first quarter, Ivaney Marquez (177-SF-83) was lethal from the free-throw line and completed 18 points in the first half to help them get ahead, 35-32. The advantage was extended to four points at the end of the third quarter, 59-55, but Deportivo Anzoategui came back to tie the game 77-77 with 5.9 seconds to go in the fourth, but Bucaneras could not score in their next posession.

Once added time was needed, Waleska Perez (180-SG-94) became the main weapon as Anzoategui netted 11 points and limited Bucaneras to only one point, using the home crowd as inspiration for defensive tasks.

Roselis Silva (166-PG-91), the former NCAA player for Arkansas Tech, was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the season for her second ever award, while coach Enrique Gil won his third Linabafe title, becoming the winningest coach ever in the league over Hugo Calvette (2) and Victor Gustavo Rojas (1).
