Linabafe 2013 Finals - Bucaneras de La Guaira wins championship series, 3-1 - Dec 4, 2013
Barquisimeto, Venezuela.- Bucaneras de La Guaira became the champions of the 2013 edition of Venezuela's Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Femenino (Linabafe), after defeating Deportivo Anzoategui in the best-of-five Finals series, 3-1.
After earning a 2-0 advantage as hosts at the Naval Academy Arena of Catia La Mar, thanks to victories 80-61 and 91-76, supported by great performances by Sharol Renault (86), Irene Tazon and Jofranny Guerra (G/F-88), the team coached by Gustavo Rojas traveled to Puerto La Cruz and played Game 3 at Luis Ramos Arena.
However, the side coached by Enrique Gil won Game 3, 66-65 to force Game 4 the next night. Bucaneras, who had been defeated in the 2012 Finals by Yaracuyanas BBC, were able to handle the pressure this time to win the series by taking Game 4 as visitors, 104-87.
In contrast to previous years, efforts to find stats or any official info regarding this league were unsuccesful, as the Venezuelan Basketball Federation failed to provide stats or consistent info to national media.
