Linabafe 2012 - Yaracuyanas defeats Bucaneras to win second straight Linabafe trophy - Dec 2, 2012

Barquisimeto, Venezuela.- Yaracuyanas BBC were able to pull off a home win in Game 5 of the Linabafe 2012 Finals against Bucaneras de La Guaira, 77-69, to win the series, 3-2, after a great effort at Nicolas Ojeda Parra Arena in San Felipe, Yaracuy. Over a 1000 fans were able to watch Yaracuyanas take their second straight Linabafe title in only two years as part of the league. The first edition was won by Escuela Pedagogica de Baloncesto in 2010.

Ivaney Marquez (83, college: Grayson County CC) scored 20 points on her way to earning the Most Valuable Player award, delivered by the Venezuelan Basketball Federation's officials who attended the game. The team coached by Hugo Calvette won the first quarter 20-17 after a quick 6-0 start against the visitors. They were unable to extend the lead in the second quarter, but still managed to go into halftime still ahead, 37-35.

A solid third quarter gave them a chance to increase the margin to 56-46 right before the last 10 minutes and they sustained their lead. Mariana Duran helped Marquez with 13 points for the winning side. For La Guaira, Nathaly Malpica finished up with 17 points and Luisana Ortega added 10 more.
