LNB 2014 - Finals - Game 5: Columbus 99 wins its first LNB championship - Nov 29, 2014

Barquisimeto, Venezuela.- Venezuela's Liga Nacional de Baloncesto (LNB) in its 2014 edition has reached its Finals, played under the best-of-five format, and Protectores de Miranda avoided sudden death as hosts by tying the series, 2-2, with an overtime home win against Columbus 99, 111-109, thanks to a two-point lay-up scored by Axiers Sucre (199-F-78) (199-F-78) with 2 seconds left, after a turnover by Columbus. Sucre got a foul out of the lay-up and missed the free-throw on purpose to win the match.

The result forced a decisive Game 5, which will be played on November 28th at Domo Bolivariano in Barquisimeto, Lara. Sucre completed a dream night for him with the winning basket, as he also led his team with 35 points and 9 rebounds. It was a crazy perimeter show by both teams, each scoring 14 three-point shots in an up-tempo game that was played in front of a packed house for the second straight evening in hot Charallave.

Six players of Protectores scored 10 or more points and 5 players did the same for Columbus. Carmelo Cortez, president of the Venezuelan Basketball Federation (FVB), was among the notable people attending the game.
