SLB Round 6 (Second Stage): Broncos hand first defeat to Trotamundos- May 22, 2021

Diablos - Indios 91-80 Diablos can celebrate finally their first win this season after four consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Indios (0-5) 91-80 on Friday. Diablos dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Indios' 40. They outrebounded Indios 40-23 including a 34-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Diablos looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international guard Michael Flores (192-85) scored 27 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all twelve shots !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Argenis Indriago (178-0) chipped in 16 points during the contest. Four Diablos players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international point guard Harold Cazorla (175-91, agency: Promo Sport ID) with 19 points, 6 assists and 6 steals and guard Ronaiquer Martinez (184-93) scored 8 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. It was the only win of host team this round and in all other games visitors recorded victories. Diablos (1-4) left bottom position moving up to eighth place, which they share with Centauros. It was Indios' fifth loss in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. Sixth ranked Cocodrilos (3-2) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging one of their biggest challengers Gigantes (3-2) 62-61 in the game for the fourth place. It was a good game for the former international forward Luis Bethelmy (200-86) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Jovanni Diaz (203-90) contributed with 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Luis Duarte (190-94) replied with 13 points and 8 rebounds and Gregory Curvelo (195-90) added 13 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Gigantes. Gigantes' coach Carlos Gil rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Cocodrilos moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Gigantes and Spartans. Hosts were defeated by Broncos (4-1) 78-66. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Trotamundos. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Broncos dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Trotamundos' 44. They outrebounded Trotamundos 58-31 including a 26-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international center Luis Julio (201-80) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. International point guard Garly Sojo (196-99) chipped in 8 points and 11 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Carlos Milano (198-85) who recorded 12 points and 9 rebounds and international power forward Fernando Fuenmayor (201-0) added 9 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Broncos have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with defeated Trotamundos.
