Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Venezuelans who are currently playing abroad.
#1. This week's number one is former international center
Gregory Echenique (206-90, agency:
Pensack Sports, college:
Creighton, currently plays in Japan). He led
Hiroshima Dragonflies to a victory over the tenth-ranked Levanga Hokkaido Sapporo (0-3)
83-75 in the Japanese B1 League in Saturday night's game.
Echenique was MVP of the game. He had a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 16 rebounds in 25 minutes on the court.
in group West. Hiroshima Dragonflies (3-0) are placed first.
So far his team won all three games in the Regular Season.
But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen.
Echenique has relatively good stats this year: 10.7ppg, 10.0rpg, 1.3apg, 2FGP: 52.2% and FT: 72.7% in three games he played so far.
He played for the Venezuelan senior national team two years ago.
#2. Second place goes to an experienced international point guard
Gregory Vargas (182-86, currently plays in Israel). Vargas could not help
Hapoel Haifa (0-1) to beat Maccabi Tel-Aviv (1-0).
He recorded 5 points. It was his first game for Hapoel Haifa this season.
The bottom-ranked Hapoel Haifa was crushed
84-59 on the road by the leading Maccabi Tel-Aviv.
But the season just started, so everything may happen.

#3. The Venezuelan player who performed third best last week abroad was former international power forward
Luis Valera (202-88, college:
UTRGV, currently plays in Spain). Valera managed to help Lujisa Guadalajara Basket in a victory against the 16th-ranked Movistar Estudiantes Madrid B team (0-3)
75-70 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) on Saturday night.
He scored only 3 points in 24 minutes.
in Group B. Lujisa Guadalajara Basket (3-1) is placed fourth.
It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
This year Valera averages: 7.5ppg, 4.8rpg, 1.3apg, 2FGP: 28.0% and FT: 71.4% in four games.
He played for the Venezuelan national team six years ago.
#4. Point guard
Angel Lugo (181-99, currently plays in Spain) contributed to an easy victory against the seventh-ranked Carolinas (0-1)
87-72 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) last Saturday.
Lugo scored 7 points in 15 minutes. It was his first game for Molina this season.
in Group E-C. His team is placed second.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
Lugo has a dual citizenship: Venezuelan and Spanish.
He used to play for the Venezuelan U16 national team
back in 2015.
The list of other players, who all have Venezuelan passport but never been selected to any of Venezuelan national teams: #1. Jose Sosa (203-PF-98, currently plays in Spain) managed to help Refitel Basquet Lliria to win against the seventh-ranked Esportiu (0-2)
91-82 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) in Sunday night's game.
Sosa scored 5 points, had 10 rebounds and made 3 blocks.
in Group E-A. Refitel Basquet Lliria (2-0) is placed first.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
Sosa's overall stats this season are: 5.5ppg, 8.5rpg and 2.0bpg.
He has a dual citizenship: Venezuelan and Spanish.
#2. Wilmer Peraza (194-C-90, currently plays in Spain). Peraza could not help
Azulejos (1-1) to beat FC Barcelona Lassa 2nd team (2-0).
He scored 6 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. It was his first game for Azulejos this season.
The sixth-placed Azulejos (1-1) was badly defeated
63-47 at home by the leading FC Barcelona Lassa 2nd team in the Group C-3.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
#3. Experienced
Franger Pirela (187-F-2, currently plays in Spain) contributed to an easy victory against the 11th-ranked Venta de Banos (1-3) crushing them
93-53 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) in Saturday night's game.
Pirela scored 7 points and added 3 assists in 20 minutes.
in Group A-A. Grupo Eleyco Baskonia B team (2-1) is placed sixth.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
This year Pirela's overall stats are: 9.3ppg, 3.7rpg, 1.7apg and 1.3spg in three games he played so far.
