Here is the weekly review of the top performing Venezuelan players, who play currently abroad.
#1. This week's number one is an experienced former international point guard
Heissler Guillent (186-1986, currently plays in Colombia). He led
Titanes to a victory over the fifth-ranked Team Cali (5-7)
81-69 in the Colombian Liga WPlay in Monday night's game.
Guillent was MVP of the game. He scored 25 points, had 6 rebounds and dished 6 assists in 40 minutes on the court.
Titanes de Barranquilla (12-0) is placed first in the Liga WPlay.
So far his team won all four games in the Semi-Finals.
Guillent has relatively good stats this year: 13.1ppg, 3.5rpg, 5.8apg, 1.5spg, 2FGP: 51.5%, 3FGP: 35.2% and FT: 79.2% in 18 games he played so far.
He played for the Venezuelan senior national team year ago.
#2. Second place goes to former U17 international center
Sergio Mijares (1997, currently plays in Chile). Mijares was the main contributor in
Aleman's victory against one of league's weakest teams CD Municipal Chillan (0-3)
66-48 in the Chilean LNB 2 (second division) last Saturday.
He was the best player in that game. Mijares recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 11 rebounds. He also added 4 assists and 3 steals (made all of his five free throws).
CD Aleman Concepcion (0-2) is placed second in the LNB 2.
Mijares has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 16.6ppg, 7.0rpg, 2.8apg, 1.6spg, 2FGP: 53.6%, 3FGP: 32.4% and FT: 81.0%.
Mijares played for the Venezuelan U17 national team in 13.
#3. The Venezuelan player who performed third best last week abroad was former international forward
Jose Ascanio (204-1996, currently plays in Argentina). He contributed to a 1-point
Quimsa's victory against the closely-ranked Instituto (25-13)
74-73 in the Argentinian La Liga on Tuesday night.
Ascanio recorded 8 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in only 12 minutes.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Quimsa Santiago del Estero (30-8) is placed first in the La Liga.
It was his team's sixth consecutive victory in a row.
This year Ascanio's overall stats are: 5.6ppg, 3.0rpg, 2FGP: 73.7%(14-19), 3FGP: 71.4% in nine games.
He played for the Venezuelan national team year ago.
#4. Swingman
Jesus Medina (188-1994, currently plays in Colombia) is a teammate of previously mentioned Heissler Guillent. But that was another game of his team in Colombian Liga WPlay which we would like to mention.
Medina contributed to a 1-point
Titanes' victory against the closely-ranked Cafeteros (7-5)
84-83.
He recorded 14 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Titanes de Barranquilla (12-0) is placed first in the Liga WPlay.
So far his team won all two games in the Finals.
Medina's total stats this season are: 7.2ppg, 3.8rpg and 2.4apg.
He used to play for the Venezuelan U17 national team
back in 11.
#5. Former international guard
Yohanner Sifontes (192-1995, currently plays in Colombia) is a teammate of previously mentioned Heissler Guillent. However that was another game of his team in Colombian Liga WPlay which brought him to that list.
Sifontes contributed to an easy victory against the fifth-ranked Team Cali (5-7) crushing them
92-62.
He recorded 12 points and added 6 passes in 32 minutes.
Titanes de Barranquilla (12-0) is placed first in the Liga WPlay.
So far his team won all four games in the Semi-Finals.
This year Sifontes' total stats are: 6.5ppg, 3.0rpg, 3.8apg and 1.2spg in six games.

#6. Forward
Michael Carrera (196-1993, agency:
BIG, college:
S.Carolina, currently plays in Spain) could not help
Lleida (21-12) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Lleida lost
71-86 on the road to the lower-ranked (#8) Caceres.
Carrera was the top scorer with 16 points. He also added 9 rebounds in 26 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Carrera's first season in pro basketball. Carrera has very impressive stats this year: 17.3ppg, 7.6rpg and 2.1apg in 35 games.
He is a former international player as he played for the Venezuelan senior team year ago.
The list of other players, who all have Venezuelan passport but never been selected to any of Venezuelan national teams: #1. Maolin Colina (190-SG-1990, currently plays in Colombia). Colina could not help
Bucaros (8-4) to beat Cafeteros (7-5).
He scored 8 points.
Bucaros was defeated
85-77 on the road by the lower-ranked Cafeteros (#3).
Colina has averaged so far 7.9ppg and 2.7rpg.
#2. Experienced
Jesus Martinez (206-F/C-1986, currently plays in Colombia) was not able to help
Cafeteros in their game against Titanes (12-0) in the Colombian Liga WPlay.
Martinez recorded 8 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Cafeteros was edged
84-83 at home by the leading Titanes.
This season Martinez has relatively solid stats: 10.1ppg, 8.8rpg, 1.2apg and 1.4bpg.
#3. Hector Diaz (192-SG-1992, currently plays in Colombia) is a teammate of previously mentioned Jesus Martinez. But that was another game of his team in Colombian Liga WPlay which we would like to mention.
Diaz was not able to secure a victory for
Cafeteros (7-5) in their last game. Despite his good performance Cafeteros lost
66-79 in Barranquilla to the leading Titanes.
Diaz scored 11 points in a mere 16 minutes.
Diaz has averaged so far 7.8ppg, 3.4rpg, 1.7apg and 1.1spg in 19 games he played so far.
He has a dual citizenship: Venezuelan and Colombian.
#4. Fernando Lucena (185-PG-1986, currently plays in Colombia) is a teammate of previously mentioned Jesus Martinez. He played also in the last Colombian Liga WPlay game facing Maolin Colina (above) in the other team.
Lucena contributed to
Cafeteros' victory against the closely-ranked Bucaros (8-4)
85-77.
He scored 10 points.
Lucena has averaged so far 8.5ppg and 1.8rpg.
He is another player who holds two passports: Venezuelan and Colombian.
#5. Joseph Campos (175-PG-1996, college:
West LA, currently plays in Chile) couldn't help the league outsider
Stadio Italiano (0-6) in their game against Boston College (3-3) in the Chilean LNB 2 (second division).
Campos scored only 4 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 22 minutes.
The bottom-ranked Stadio Italiano lost
73-81 in a derby game to the much higher-ranked (#8) Boston College.
So far Stadio Italiano lost all six games in the Regular Season.
But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen.
Campos has averaged so far 8.3ppg, 7.7rpg and 1.3bpg in three games.
