Yerri Flores
Llaneros de Guarico has also started making moves for the 2023 edition of Venezuela's Superliga Profesional de Baloncesto (SPB), by announcing the signing of Venezuelan coach Darwin Silvera as head coach, as well as bringing in Yerri Flores (188-PG-1996, college: High School) and JD Williams (196-G-1997) as foreign players.
Silvera, also a well-recognized TV analyst, was the assistant coach for Ivan Garcia last season, in which Llaneros finished with a 11-14 record in the Western Conference, finishing at fourth place. It'll be his first time as head coach in Venezuelan pro basketball.
His first experience was as an assistant coach for Gladiadores de Anzoategui in the 2021 SLB Cup. Born in Aragua state, he's also working with former Senior NT player Pablo Machado (207-C-1977, college: LMU) in a special talk show, Pura Bulla.
Meanwhile, the team also announced the signings of guards JD Williams and Yerri Flores.
For Flores, it'll be his comeback to this team, since he played for Llaneros back in 2021 when they were an SLB franchise, averaging 15.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game in 9 games of the SLB 2021 Cup. He also played for Llaneros in the 2019 LPB Cup, averaging 19.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.3 steals in 11 games, including 43% in three-point shots.
Williams is a former Louisiana-Monroe player in the NCAA, born in Birmingham, Alabama, who averaged 14.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.3 assista and 1.2 steals back in his final college season (2019-2020). It'll be his first pro experience overseas.
