SPB 2023 - Gaiteros add Ty Lawson to their roster, ex US Monastir

Gaiteros-de-Zulia (SPB) added to their roster experienced 35-year old American point guard Ty Lawson (180cm-88kg-1987, college: UNC) for season 2023. Lawson played most recently at US Monastir in Tunisian ProA. He helped them to win the league title and the cup.
In 2009 he was drafted by Minnesota Timberwolves (NBA) in first round (18th overall). Lawson graduated from University of North Carolina. It will be his 14th (!!!) season in pro basketball.
He is quite experienced player. His career allowed him to visit four different continents, while he played in five different countries. Lawson tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America. He has played previously professionally in China (Lawsonroes and Sturgeons), Greece (Kolossos H Hotels Rodou), Lithuania (Zalgiris), Puerto Rico (Mets) and NBA (Denver Nuggets, Houston Rockets, Washington Wizards, Sacramento Kings and Indiana Pacers). He was voted to Asia-Basket.com All-Chinese CBA Honorable Mention back in 2018 and 2020.

On Lawson: A tiny PG with great personality. Lawson doesn t fear anyone on the court, has leadership, scoring skills and great court vision. Showed flashes of true starship in his first season as a pro, even because no one was expecting this kind of effectiveness from him. Also, has quick hands and can be a very good defender, even on taller opponents.
