Spartans de Distrito Capital Caracas (SPB) signed 30-year old American forward Branden Dawson (200cm-102kg-1993, college: Michigan State). Dawson just played at TB Herobears in Taiwanese T1 League. In 21 games he had very impressive stats: 19.0ppg, 11.9rpg, 3.1apg, 2.9spg and 1.6bpg last season. Good year as he was named League Player of the Week. The last season he played at Lioneers (PLeague+) in Taiwan where in 7 games he recorded also remarkable stats: 16.9ppg, 14.4rpg, 1.7apg, 3.0spg and 1.3bpg.
In 2015 he was drafted by New Orleans Hornets (NBA) in second round (56th overall). He graduated from Michigan State and it will be his eighth season in pro basketball.
Dawson is quite experienced player. He has played in eight different countries on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America). Dawson has played previously professionally in Israel (Bnei Hasharon), Japan (Hitachi SunRockers Tokyo-Shibuya), Mexico (Soles and Gigantes), Philippines (FiberXers), NBA (LA Clippers and Orlando Magic), Dominican Republic (Mauricio Baez, Plaza, Caneros, La Mattica and La Villa), NBA G League (College Park SkyHawks and Grand Rapids Gold) and The Basketball Tournament (Heartfire). His team won Big Ten Tournament in 2012 and 2014.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others he was voted Latinbasket.com All-Dominican Republic LNB Defensive Player of the Year back in 2019.
He could be described: Owns incredible rebounding instincts both on the offensive and defensive end. Possesses wide, strong frame that allows him to attack the paint and finish above the rim Strength and length allow him to defend multiple positions.
