SPB 2023 - A.J. Slaughter (ex Gran Canaria) agreed terms with Guaros

Guaros de Lara (SPB) strengthened their roster with addition of experienced 35-year old American (has also Polish passport) 191cm shooting guard A.J. Slaughter (college: WKU). Slaughter played most recently at Gran Canaria in Spanish Liga Endesa. In 36 games he recorded 10.1ppg, 1.4rpg and 2.1apg last season. He also played 21 games in Eurocup where he averaged 10.7ppg, 1.6rpg and 2.4apg.
Slaughter's team won Sun Belt Tournament in 2008 and 2009.
The previous (2021-22) season he played at Gran Canaria (Liga Endesa). In 33 games he had 12.2ppg, 1.9rpg, 3.1apg and 1.0spg in that year. He also played 17 games in Eurocup where he got 10.8ppg, 2.4rpg, 3.2apg and 1.0spg in that year. He helped them to make it to the quarterfinals.
Slaughter has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2013.
He also represented Poland at the European Championships (FIBA EuroBasket) six years ago. His stats at that event were 3 games: 14.0ppg, 3.0rpg, 4.0apg, FGP: 64.7%, 3PT: 28.6%, FT: 66.7%.
Slaughter is a very experienced player. Thanks to Slaughter's pro career he managed to play on three different continents (Europe, Asia and of course North America) in eight different countries. He has played previously professionally in Belgium (Belfius Mons Hainaut), France (Cholet Basket, ASVEL Lyon Villeurbanne Basket, SIG Strasbourg and Chalon/Saor), Greece (Panathinaikos), Italy (Biella), Kuwait (Kuwait), Turkey (Bandirma) and The Basketball Tournament (Eberlein Drive, Team Rondo, Team Hines and Team KBC).
Among many awards he was voted to Eurobasket.com Spanish Liga Endesa All-Imports Team in 2021.
Slaughter graduated from Western Kentucky University in 2010 and it will be his 14th (!!!) season in pro basketball. Slaughter's team won Sun Belt Tournament in 2008 and 2009.
