Daniel Seoane named Venezuela's Senior National Team head coach

The Venezuelan Basketball Federation (FVB) has announced Daniel Seoane (agency: Pro Sports ) as the new Men's Senior National Team head coach, replacing Argentinian Fernando Duro , who'll now become Sports Director of the National Basketball Plan.
Hanthony Coello, president of the FVB, made the announcement in a press conference held at Parque Miranda in Caracas. Seoane, 41 years old, has been an assistant coach for the Senior NT in the past and recently had the same role for the Dominican Republic in the 2023 FIBA World Cup, working alongside Argentinian Nestor Garcia .
He's also worked as a first assistant coach since 2006 in Venezuela's LPB for franchises such as Guaros de Lara, Marinos de Anzoategui or Bucaneros de La Guaira, as well as in the extinct LNB with Guerreros de Lara, Duros de Lara and Espartanos de Margarita. He was also an assistant in teams such as Montakit Fuenlabrada (Spain, 2017-2018) and Cangrejeros de Santurce (Puerto Rico, 2021).
He was the head coach of Panteras de Miranda in the SPB 2023 season and most recently coached a couple of game in the Dominican Republic's TBS league at the helm of El Millon.
He's also been the head coach of teams such as Generales de Lara (LNB 2012), Columbus 99 (LNB 2013), Maccabi Haifa (Israel, 2018-2021), Atletico Aguada (Uruguay, 2021-2022) and Defensor Sporting (Uruguay, 2022-2023)
The new coaching staff of Venezuela will also include Yonaicker Ecker, Alexis Cedres and Diego Vasquez as assistant coaches. Ecker just coached Guaros de Lara into the SPB 2023 Finals and was named 2023 Coach of the Year prior to accepting an offer to coach Cafeteros de Armenia in Colombia's 2023 Liga WPlay.
Cedres is the head coach of Centauros de Portuguesa in the SPB and also won a Coach of the Year award back in 2022, while Vasquez has mainly been a scouting and special assistant both for teams such as Guaros de Lara or Spartans Distrito Capital in the SPB, as well as for Venezuela's U25 NT squad or "Equipo Blanco" (White Team).
Meanwhile, former captain of Venezuela's Senior NT and still active player Jose Vargas (195-G/F-1982, agency: Pro Sports) will become Chief of Squad and Alberto Rodriguez is the new Senior NT Doctor.
Coach Alecia Landaeta was appointed as Development Director and veteran awarded coach Francisco "Paco" Diez will be the Mini Basketball National Scheduling Director (2024 to 2027).
The first official challenge for this new coaching staff will be the 2023 Panamerican Games, to be played in Santiago, Chile.
