Gladiadores de Anzoategui (SPB) signed experienced 35-year old Belizean-Costa Rican ex-international power forward Charles Garcia (204cm-104kg-1988, college: Seattle) for upcoming 2024 season. It is actually his comeback to Caracas as he has played here before. Garcia just played at Hurricanes in Belizean BEBL. In only one game just recently he recorded 10 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists last season.
In 2016 (six years after his graduation) he was drafted by Austin Spurs (D-League) in fourth round (79th overall).
He graduated from Seattle University in 2010 and it will be his 14th (!!!) season in pro basketball.
Garcia has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2014. He was a member of Belizean Senior National Team back in 2018.
Garcia is quite experienced player. He has played in thirteen different countries on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America). Garcia has played previously professionally in Bahrain (Al-Manama), Iceland (Grindavik), Japan (B Corsairs), Korea (Samsung Thunders and Skygunners), Malaysia (Adroit), Mexico (Potros), Philippines (Ginebra Kings), Puerto Rico (Vaqueros), Spain, Taiwan (Bank of Taiwan, Pauian, Fubon Braves and GhostHawks), Turkey, NBA G League (Sioux Falls Skyforce, Utah F. and Indiana Mad Ants) and Big3 (Ghost Ballers).
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Garcia's college team made it to the Bahrain League Cup final in 2023. He was voted to Asia-basket.com All-Taiwanese T1 League Honorable Mention in 2022.
Garcia is close to retirement age as a player. It's very possible he may end his playing career at Gladiadores. He played also for Riverside City College for 2 years.
