SLBF 2024 - Genesis Rivera comes back to Pastoras

Pastoras de Lara (SLBF) added to their roster 28-year old Venezuelan international swingman Genesis Rivera (180cm-1996, college: UMass). It is actually her comeback to Barquisimeto as she has played here before. Rivera moved there from CP Natacao in Portuguese Liga Feminina. In 20 games she recorded 14.7ppg, 9.2rpg, 1.8apg and 1.1spg last season. Good year as she was named League Player of the Week and voted to Eurobasket.com All-Portuguese League Second Team. The last summer she played at Atletico Aguada in Uruguayan league where in three Liga Sudamericana games she averaged 5.7ppg, 4.0rpg and 1.7spg.
She has been also a member of Venezuelan international program for some years. Rivera has regularly played for Venezuelan senior team since 2015 and previously for U17 National Team in 2013.
She represented Venezuela at the Olympic Games Pre-Qualifying Tournament in Medellin (Colombia) last year. Her stats at that event were 3 games: 5.3ppg, 2.3rpg, FGP: 50.0%, 3PT: 14.3%, FT: 50.0%.
Rivera has played previously for Caribenas.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others she played in the final of Liga Sudamericana in 2023. She was selected to Latinbasket.com All-Chilean Liga Femenina Honorable Mention back in 2019.
Rivera graduated from University of Massachusetts in 2019 and it is her fifth season as a professional player.
