Almanza's 31-point game gives him Player of the Week award

32-year old COL-VENn power forward Luis Almanza (196-PF-1991) had a great game in the last round for Heroes De Falcon and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 19.
He had the game-high 31 points adding four rebounds and four assists for Heroes in his team's victory, helping them to beat Diablos (#9, 3-11) 100-94. Heroes is placed at 3rd position in Venezuelan league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Heroes will need more victories to improve their 7-4 record. In the team's last game Almanza had a remarkable 55.6% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Heroes, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Luis Almanza averages this season 14.4ppg.

Second best performed player last round was Lamonte Bearden (191-G-1995) of Frontinos Del Tachira. He is American guard in his first season at Frontinos. In the last game Bearden recorded an impressive 27 points, 4 rebounds and 8 assists. Of course Frontinos cruised to a 89-77 relatively comfortable win over Spartans (4-8). This victory allowed Frontinos to move up to 6th position in Group I. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 4-8 record. Bearden is one of the most experienced players at Frontinos and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Luis Bethelmy (200-F-1986) of league's second-best Marinos de Oriente. Bethelmy scored 13 points and grabbed 19 rebounds (!!!). Despite Bethelmy's great performance the Marinos lost 71-74 to #1 ranked Cocodrilos. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Marinos needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams in the Group II. Their record is 9 victories and 4 lost games. Bethelmy has a very solid season. In 13 games in Venezuela he scored 10.5ppg. He also has 7.6rpg, a FGP of 61.3% and 3PT: 44.2%.
