Former international Guard Carlos Lemus (190-G-1999) had an amazing evening in the last round for Marinos de Oriente and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
The 25-year old guard had the game-high 16 points adding four rebounds and seven assists for Marinos in his team's victory, helping them to beat Guaiqueries (#11, 0-2), the league's bottom-ranked team 75-68. Marinos is placed at 3rd position in Venezuelan SPB. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Marinos won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. Lemus turned to be Marinos' top player in his first season with the team. The University of Texas at El Paso graduate has very impressive stats this year. Lemus is in league's top in assists (3rd best: 7.0apg) and averages solid 56.3% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American forward Delwan Graham (200-F-1988, agency: Interperformances) of Llaneros de Guarico. Graham impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds. Bad luck as Llaneros was edged by Trotamundos (1-1) 77-75. The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Graham is one of the most experienced players at Llaneros and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 21.0ppg (#2). He also registered 13.0 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was Spanish swingman Jhornan Zamora (196-G/F-1989) of Trotamundos de Carabobo (#7). Zamora scored 23 points. He was a key player of Trotamundos, leading his team to a 77-75 win against Llaneros (#12, 0-2). Trotamundos needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 1 victory and 1 lost game. Zamora has a great season in Venezuela. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.5ppg (8th best). Jhornan Zamora has also Venezuelan passport and can play in the league with a status of domestic player.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Yohanner Sifontes (192-G-1995) of Spartans - 11 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Sydney Curry (203-F-2000) of Panteras - 18 points and 9 rebounds
6. Michael Carrera (196-F-1993) of Gladiadores - 17 points and 5 rebounds

10. Donta Smith (201-SF-1983) of Trotamundos - 11 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
