Summers number one in Venezuela SPB for round 6 (by Hoops Agents)

American-Mexican Durrell Summers (196-SF-1989) had an amazing evening in the last round for Gladiadores de Anzoategui, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 6.
The 35-year old player was the main contributor (39 points, nine rebounds and two assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Marinos (#5, 4-2) 114-108. Gladiadores is placed at 6th position in Venezuelan SPB. Gladiadores is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 3-3 record. In the team's last game Summers had a remarkable 56.3% from 2-point range and got four three-pointers out of 7 attempts. He just recently signed at Gladiadores and just after two games he already turned to be a very valuable addition to the team. Durrell Summers averages just after two games 19.5ppg and 6.0rpg.

The second best player in last round's games was young American Taylor Johns (197-C-1994) of Frontinos Del Tachira. Johns had a very good evening with a double-double of 23 points and 16 rebounds. Bad luck as Frontinos lost that game 78-89 to the lower-ranked Toros (#13, 1-5). Despite lost game Frontinos moved up to 4th position in the standings. His team's 4-2 record is not bad at all. Johns is one of the most experienced players at Frontinos and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American swingman Wesley Saunders (196-G/F-1993) of Marinos de Oriente (#5). Saunders got into 30-points club by scoring 31 points in the last round. He went also for six assists. Despite Saunders' great performance the Marinos lost 108-114 to slightly lower-ranked Gladiadores (#6, 3-3). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Marinos needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 4 victories and 2 lost games. Saunders has a great season in Venezuela. After only 6 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.5ppg (9th best). He also has a FGP of 64.0% and 3PT: 43.8%.
