Luis Bethelmy gets MVP of the Week award for Venezuelan SPB

Experienced International Forward Luis Bethelmy (200-F-1986) had an amazing evening in the last round for Marinos de Oriente and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 36.
The 38-year old forward had a double-double of 11 points and 15 rebounds, while his team edged out Piratas (#9, 11-11) 84-80. Marinos maintains the 3rd position in Venezuelan SPB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Marinos will need more victories to improve their 15-9 record. Bethelmy just recently signed at Marinos, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Bethelmy has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (6th best: 8.3rpg).

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young international center Nestor Colmenares (200-C-1987) of Trotamundos de Carabobo. Colmenares impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds. Of course he led Trotamundos to another comfortable win 77-64 over slightly higher-ranked Pioneros (15-9) being unquestionably team leader. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Trotamundos consolidated its place in top 4 of the standings. His team's 15-9 record is not bad at all. Colmenares is one of the most experienced players at Trotamundos and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was international guard Gregory Vargas (181-PG-1986) of Gladiadores de Anzoategui (#6). Vargas showcased his all-around game by recording 10 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists (!!!) in the last round. He was a key player of Gladiadores, leading his team to a 89-66 easy win against the lower-ranked Panteras (#12, 7-17). Gladiadores needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 12 victories and 12 lost games. Vargas has a great season in Venezuela. After 24 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 7.8apg (best passer).

8. Dallas Morgan (185-G-1998) of Trotamundos - 21 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Luis Santos (203-C-1994) of Marinos - 16 points and 6 rebounds
10. Ra'shad James (185-G-1990) of Piratas - 25 points and 5 rebounds

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.

The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
