Brillantes - Marinos 71-81

Marinos forced 21 Brillantes turnovers. American guard Michael Bryson (193-1994, college: UCSB) fired 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. The other American import swingman Wesley Saunders (196-1993, college: Harvard) chipped in 19 points and 4 assists. Four Marinos players scored in double figures. American forward Myke Henry (198-1992, college: DePaul) produced 9 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Angel Suero added 14 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games.

Gladiadores made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of international point guard Gregory Vargas (181-1986) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points, 9 rebounds and 13 assists and Senegalese-American center Malik Dime (206-1992, college: Washington, agency: Slash Sports) who added 7 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side forward Kelvin Caraballo (198-1988) responded with 15 points and 7 rebounds and American swingman Micheal Warren (196-1995, college: CSUN) scored 15 points. Four Gladiadores and five Gaiteros players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game.

The winners were led by American guard Tyrone White (201-1990, college: CSUB) who scored that evening 31 points and the former international forward Jose Ascanio (204-1996) supported him with 20 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 13 points and 9 rebounds by Dominican-American forward Anyeuri Castillo (201-1997, college: USC Aiken) did not help to save the game for Pioneros. American Tim Bond (201-1995, college: EMU) added 15 points for lost side. Four Pioneros players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
